Music. Absolute music only expresses itself through sound but there is obviously also content, not just sound alone. The problem is, this content cannot be articulated in an objective, rational, scientific way with words. Where it is possible, the music would be unnecessary. The fact that it is not possible to articulate it in a rational, scientific way doesn't mean that it doesn't have content. Therefore, the question is what is this content and how do we realise it?
We are Wing, Tom, Damon, Ryan and Paul, coming from diverse musical backgrounds and welcome to our blog, ISYSymphony. Here, we will discuss some of the many facets of music from different perspectives. In the coming weeks, we'll be exploring genres ranging from modern popular music and music of the original classical titans. Should some modern contemporary 'music' be considered music or just sound? What key differences are there in the progression of different musical genres? These are some of the questions that we will be addressing from our individual perspectives. Hope you enjoy your stay as we explore the culture of music through time!
